To contribute to the present and future health of persons living in Columbiana County through the provision of personal and environmental health services and by the performance of activities which deal with the prevention of illness. Areas of concern include communicable disease, chronic disease, and health promotion. Epidemiological investigations, immunizations, STD control, and health education are provided. Services are provided in both clinic and home settings. All sanitary laws and regulations are enforced to protect the community. Concerns relating to chronic disease are specifically addressed through programs that focus on prevention, identification and detection of early signs of disease, referral, health care continuity, and rehabilitative services. Other services include: 1. Cancer detection and education. 2. Neurological, vision, speech & hearing, cardiac, and orthopedic clinics. 3. Monitoring of hypertension. 4. TB testing. 5. Welcome Home Visits And the provision for consultation and education services for long-term care facilities. In the area of health promotion, Columbiana County Health Department provides family planning services, health screenings from birth to 21, child health conferences for children under six, school service and adult health conferences. Services are provided that start with prenatal
needs of expectant parents and extend through those of aging clients
and those who interact with them. |
