Health Services

The Nursing Division continues its commitment to provide preventive health services to the community. These services are made possible through the combined efforts of the health department and state and local agencies and organizations. Most of these services are provided free of charge or for a reduced fee to the residents of Columbiana County.

Immunization Program: Immunizations are provided for infants, children, adolescents, and adults. The Immunization Action Plan grant through the Ohio Department of Health provides local education and quality assurance for immunization programs in the private sector.

The Children with Medical Handicaps Program (CMH) provides medical assistance to children with special health care needs and their families who meet the medical and financial eligibility criteria. Assistance is provided to children under the age of 21 who have special health care needs and are residents of the State of Ohio.

Although CMH covers a wide range of services, it is important to know BCMH does not cover all the services a child with special health care needs may require, nor are all services available for every diagnosis. Services must be related to the child's BCMH-eligible condition.

Please contact the Columbiana County Health Department with questions about the CMH program, or to apply for services.

Connecting Parents Who Care

Connecting Parents Who Care is a group designed for parents of children active on the Children with Medical Handicaps (CMH) program. The parents meet on the third Thursday of every month with exclusion to the months the children participate. The children are involved in one winter and one summer meeting. The purpose of the group is for support and connection with other families.

If you are a parent of a child on CMH, contact the Columbiana County Health Department for more information or join our Facebook Page at:

Tuberculosis Skin Testing: TB testing is available for a minimal fee.

Communicable Disease and Perinatal Hepatitis B Surveillance: Communicable Disease Reports are maintained and case follow-up is conducted to prevent and control outbreaks and epidemics of disease. The Perinatal Hepatitis B Program ensures that newborns and household contacts of Hepatitis B positive pregnant women receive free vaccine and follow-up to assist in the elimination of this disease.
