Several forms of government at the local and state level work together to both
regulate and provide funding for HSTS. This video reviews Household Sewage
Treatment Systems (HSTS) and how funding for them are regulated by local health
districts, the Ohio Department of Health, and Ohio Environmental Protection Aagency.


In areas of Columbiana County where municipal sanitary sewer is not available, homes and businesses are serviced by an individual septic system. The Columbiana County Health District staff assists residents with waste water issues such as new home site calculations, repair evaluations of a failing septic system, home real estate sales, new installations, and public nuisance complaint investigations.
